Future Coastline No. 4, 2018
12” (h) x 36” (w)
oil on canvas
In this series of paintings, Solomon Enos meditates on the vast coconut groves that once — and will again — propagate the coastline of Helumoa and Hawai‘i. The abundant presence of thick coconut groves signals new beginnings and new growth. “The profound nature of the niu (coconut) is its heartiness and its life-giving water. Each tree is like a slow-motion, organic firework.”
