ABOUT THE RADICAL OPTIMIST SERIES
In the face of anxiety and uncertainty, Solomon Enos’ art offers an introspective and hopeful antidote to dystopian futures. As the exhibition name suggests, the common thread running through his artwork is an untethered buoyancy that has become the hallmark of his work. Enos believes that “vigilant kindness and compassion are the new black,” an ethos that comes through in his work, which often draws upon indigenous knowledge and sci-fi narratives.
“The work in this exhibit reminds us that these times have come before,” Enos explains. “And we can immunize ourselves on a simple idea: We are but in the middle of a long process. Hate is linear and, thus, can end; whereas compassion is circular and will endure in eternity.”
