Reef Egg (2013)
36” x 24”
acrylic on box canvas (wood)
Inspired by his sea voyage to Papahānaumokuākea, Reef Egg reflects the mystery and complexity Solomon Enos witnessed and experienced while in the “kūpuna islands,” as he refers to them. According to the Kumulipo (Hawaiian genealogy chant), corals are the beginning of life and are, thus, the most ancient ancestors of all living things.
