“When Pelehonuamea is born, she and her sister Nāmakaokahaʻi immediately begin to fight. Their confrontation is the titanic clash between ocean and lava that can still be seen today. Haumea fears of Pelehonuamea’s life because Haumea knows that Pelehonuamea’s fires are no match for the cold ocean waters of Nāmakaokahaʻi. Haumea gives Pelehonuamea a canoe and orders her to find another home far away from Nāmakaokahaʻi.”
